Tim Harris Named ACC Track Performer of the Week

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami’s Tim Harris has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Track Performer of the Week for his effort in the Pepsi Florida Relay’s on April 5 in Gainesville, Fla.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Harris, a senior for the Hurricanes, took first-place in the 800-meter run at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., this past weekend. His time of 1:47.73 is the fastest 800-meter performance in both the league and nation this season, and qualifies the Miami, Fla., product for the upcoming NCAA East Regional meet next month.
Last month at the NCAA Indoor National Championships, Harris picked up his fourth All-American distinction with a fourth-place finish in the 800-meters.
The senior will look to lead the men’s track and field team in UM’s own Miami Elite Invitational this Saturday, April 12. Thursday, April 17 the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will get underway and Harris will look to become a six-time ACC Champion, he already holds three indoor titles and two outdoor.
