Miami unfortunately comes into the ACC Tournament with a season-high six game losing streak and only two conference victories.  However, one of those wins came against their first round opponent, Georgia Tech.  In that win freshman point guard Epiphany Woodson hit game winning three-pointer in the final moments, giving her team a 54-52 victory.

The Hurricanes are led by ACC Honorable Mention and ACC All-Defensive Team member, Maurita Reid.  The senior guard has amassed 106 steals on the season, fifth best in the nation, all while leading her team with 15.4 point and 5.7 rebounds per game.

A Look at Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech also won a thriller against Miami, in their first meeting of the year, freshman Alex Montgomery broke a tie game with three-pointer from the corner, with less than a second to go.

Montgomery is one of three Yellow Jacket players that average double-digits in scoring with 11.4 points per game.  Janie Mitchell leads her team with 17.1 points per game with Chioma Nnamaka behind her at 15.8.  Jacqua Williams is the  only ACC player ahead of Reid in steals, she has 110 on the season, putting her fourth in the nation.

The Series

This is Miami’s fourth time in the ACC Tournament since joining the conference in the 2004-05 season.  Every year the Hurricanes have met Georgia Tech in the opening round each of those years.

This will be the third straight season these teams have met three times.  During the regular season, each team won their home game on last second three pointers.  Miami holds an all-time 7-6 record against Georgia Tech, with the Yellow Jackets owning a 2-1 record in post-season play.
