As has been the case in recent years, Tim Harris is the leader of the Hurricanes heading into the conference championships and this year Harris has lived up to his expectations. The three-time All-American currently leads the ACC with a time of 1:48.59 in the 800-meters, that time also stands for seventh best in the nation.
The Hurricanes look to sweep the 800-meters with senior Richard Bernard and junior Patrick O’Donnell joining Harris in the event. Bernard holds the sixth-best ACC time, while O’Donnell rests one spot behind in seventh in Miami’s strongest event.
Miami will also look to pick up multiple places in the 60-meter hurdles with senior Les Bradley leading the way, with the fifth-best time in the ACC. Sophomore Cory Nelms also ranks seventh in the conference in the same event.
Another senior looking to make an impact, is Roland DaSilva who will be the first to perform this weekend, as he opens with the heptathlon Thursday afternoon. Dasilva will also participate in the 4×400 relay, along with Harris, Bernard and sophomore Cory Nelms.
Elan Diviglus will have an opportunity to score for his team in the high jump. The junior leapt 2.06-meters in winning the Virginia Tech Elite title last month.
Action begins on Thursday with combined events at 1:30 p.m. Friday begins with the long jump at noon and the third and final day will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. with the shot put.
