Last week, Johnson was named to the WBCA All-American Team presented by Nike.  This week, she becomes the second incoming freshman to be named to the McDonald’s All-America Team, joining former Hurricane great, Tamara James.

“I want to congratulate Shenise for her hard work, as well as her family and her current coach, Steve Shepanski at Rush-HenriettaHigh School.  To be named to two of the most prestigious All-American teams is a huge honor,” said head coach Katie Meier.

The WBCA as well as the McDonald’s All-American selections committees take academic and other off-court accolades into account when choosing candidates.  Meier added, “For our program to add such a well-rounded individual, is a compliment to our staff.”

Slam Magazine currently ranks Johnson as the no. 11 prospect in the nation and the best in the northeast.  The 5-11 forward out of Henrietta, N.Y. has led her team to a 17-3 record so far this season.

Johnson joins Sylvia Bullock (Anchorage, Alaska), Jazmond Stringer (Miami, Fla.) and Riquna Williams (Pahokee, Fla.) on the Hoopgurlz.com 25th ranked incoming class.
