Miami returns home after a rough two-game road trip this pat week. The Hurricanes suffered lopsided losses to no. 5 Maryland and the upstart Boston College Eagles.
Miami will look to snap a season-high five game losing streak that began at Georgia Tech on Jan. 13. Senior Maurita Reid leads the team with 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Damisha Moore has played well in the Hurricanes last two games, averaging 7.0 points and 4.5 rebounds on the latest road trip.
A Look at Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech’s three conference losses have come against no. 4 UNC, no. 10 Duke and no. 4 Maryland. The loss to Maryland came on the road and in double overtime. However, the Yellow Jackets have won two straight, convincingly over Clemson and FloridaState.
Three players average double figures for Georgia Tech, but they are led by Janie Mitchell who score 17.2 points per contest. Alex Montgomery broke Miami’s heart with a last second three in the Jan. 13 meeting, she averages 11.3 per game.
The Series
These two teams met for the first time in 1980 and have since played a total of 12 times. The series is tied with each team taking six games apiece. However, the Yellow Jackets have won five straight, including a 68-65 victory earlier this season.
