Hurricanes Place Fifth at Bulldog Stampede Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Miami men’s cross country team took fifth place Saturday morning at the 2007 Bulldog Stampede Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia at the UGA Golf Course.

Led by senior Alex Paley’s 22nd-place time of 26:41.12 in the 8,000-meter race, the Hurricanes finished fifth out of 10 teams with a total 143 points. Paley was part of a six-person UM contingent that finished with an average time of 27:33.26.

Junior Andrew Chuplis finished with a time of 27:17.85 to take 34th place while fellow classmates Ryan Woodlee (27:44.69) and Vincent Giambanco (27:47.34) finished 41st and 42nd, respectively.

Rounding out the UM field was freshman Greg Grosicki, who finished 48th with a time of 28:15.27, and junior Eric Miller who placed 53rd with a time of 29:00.68.

The Hurricanes return to action Friday, Oct. 5 traveling to Titusville, Fla. to take part in the flarunners.com Invitational.
