HANAHAN, S.C. – Senior Jessica Steward (Mystic, Conn.) wrapped up Monday’s final round of the 2007 Cougar Classic in seventh place after firing a three-round total 216 (E) to lead the University of Miami women’s golf team at Yeaman’s Hall Golf Club.
Steward, who started off the day tied for 12th place, put together a final round score of 72 to finish even with par while, collectively, the Hurricanes placed 14th with a total of 910.
Hurricane freshman Christina Hirano (Pinole, Calif.) finished tied for 60th, putting together first, second and third rounds of 75, 77 and 78, respectively, for a 230.
Senior Hagen Wientraub (Davie, Fla.) followed in 69th place, shooting a 234 (78-76-80) over the three-day tournament while freshman Maria Ronderos (Bradenton, Fla.) finished tied for 73rd with a 235 (78-75-82).
Junior Anabelle Paulino (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) finished with a 239 (73-84-82) to tie for 88th.
The Hurricanes return to action Sept. 24-25, heading back to South Carolina for the Myrtle Beach Classic hosted by Coastal Carolina.
