Day One of 2007 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Complete

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The conclusion of the first day of competition at the 2007 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw University of Miami senior Roland DaSilva end the day in third place in the men’s decathlon and senior Amy Seward wrap up the day in second place in women’s heptathlon Thursday at the University of Maryland’s Kehoe Track and Ludwig Field.

DaSilva, who placed first in the 100-meters with a time of 10.94 and second in the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters, heads into Friday’s final five events with 3,619 points. Seward earned 3,237 points through four events highlighted by first place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (14.47 seconds) and the 200-meters (24.44).

In other action, junior Khadija Talley placed fifth in the women’s hammer throw with a season-best, NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 54.92 meters and junior Kaitlin Nazario took fifth place in the women’s javelin with a season-best mark of 43.34 meters.

Day two of the 2007 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship begins with men’s decathlon action at 10:00 a.m. ET, followed by the men’s discus at 10:30 a.m. and the completion of the women’s heptathlon at 11:00 a.m. Concluding the morning field events is the men’s high jump.
