Scheiner Wins 3000-Meters At Florida Intercollegiate

Gainesville, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Senior Jon Scheiner (Katy, Texas) won the 3000-meters in a personal-best time of 8:37.47 to lead the University of Miami men’s track team at the Florida Intercollegiate in Gainesville, Fla.

Also impressive on Saturday was freshman Cory Nelms (Neptune, N.J.) who in his first collegiate meet reached the finals of both the 55-meters and 55-meter hurdles placing 15th (6.68) and 12th (7.56) respectively.

In the pole vault, senior Roland DaSilva (Margate, Fla.) recorded a person-best mark of 4.35 meters (14-03.25). DaSilva was an All-ACC selection last season in the heptathlon.

In other action, junior Richard Bernard (Charlotte, N.C.) was the second overall collegian in the mile run posting a time of 4:25.43.
