Miami Set for Second Match-Up against Maryland and Boston College

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s volleyball team will face two road matches against ACC opponents this weekend. Miami will head to College Park to take Maryland at the Comcast Center Pavilion Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., before going against Boston College at the Power Gym Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

The Hurricanes (8-13, 5-7 ACC) look to continue on a winning path after coming off a 3-1 defeat over Wake Forest. Miami currently sits in the eight spot in the league right under Boston College (6-14, 5-6 ACC), and three spots ahead of Maryland (9-11, 2-9 ACC).

UM averages 14.13 kills per game, with a hitting percentage of .210.Senior Frannie Savage leads the team with 309 total kills (3.77 pg). With 1055 total assists, led by senior Jill Robinson with 850 (10.62 pg), Miami averages12.87 assists per game. On Defense, led by Ann Gallo with 213 digs, and Ciara Michel with 102 blocks, the Hurricanes total 1158 digs with a 14.12 average, and 208 total blocks averaging 2.5 blocks per game.

In their last match, the Hurricanes swept the Terrapins 3-0 to take their first ACC win of the season. The match was led by Robinson with 38 assists (8.96 per game) and 10 digs (2.38 per game). Senior Frannie Savage also led the match with 14 kills and a .387 hitting percentage, while junior Ciara Michel registered 11 kills. On defense, freshman libero Cassie Loessberg led the match defensively with 16 digs (2.33 per game).

Miami faced Boston College in a home match earlier in the season, and went down in five games. In that match, Savage led the Hurricanes with 22 kills and 8 digs. Robinson led with 47 assists and tallied 11 digs, while Ashley Woods posted eight kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
