Women's Volleyball Prepare Face NC State and North Carolina

CORAL GABLES, FLa. – The University of Miami women’s volleyball team will continue ACC play as they take on N.C. State October 6 and North Carolina October 8. Match times are set for 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Knight Sports Complex.
The Hurricanes come into the weekend with a 5-9 mark following Saturday’s four game win over Georgia Tech. In that match, senior setter Jill Robinson registered her sixth double-double, including five in the last five games to lead the Hurricanes. Miami totaled a match high of 64 assists in four games. Out of that total, Robinson dished out 55 of her own, and posted 13 digs.
Junior middle blocker Ciara Michel led the team with 18 kills and 5 blocks, while senior outside hitter Frannie Savage posted 17 kills and four digs along with three block assists. Lauren Rinderknecht and Ashley Woods contributed 12 kills apiece.
Miami registered two match highs with 73 kills and 72 defensive digs. In addition, the Hurricanes totaled a .221 hitting percentage and 10 service aces.
Scouting NC State
First season head coach Cherita Stubbs brings NC State into town looking to snap a seven-match losing streak. The Wolfpack got off to a 2-7 start in non-conference play, defeating University of Tennessee Chattanooga and Chicago State on the road.
The Wolfpack are led by Keshia Raibon with a 143 total kills (3.11 per game) and Aiwane Iboaya’s with a 323 hitting percentage. Allison Davis ranks first on the team with 17 service aces.
Three Pack players (Chrissy Zirpolo, Keshia Raibon and Allison Davis) already hold over 100 digs for the season.
Scouting UNC
The Tarheels sit 9th in the ACC, after dropping four straight ACC matches after opening with a 3-0 win over NC State. They look to bounce back from a three game loss last Saturday to conference foe and in-state rival Duke University, as they face Florida State (10-4, 4-1 ACC) Saturday before traveling to Coral Gables.
UNC is led offensively by Noelle Dyk’s 3.17 kills per game and defensively by Amy Beaver’s 1.12 blocks per game.Tickets for this weekend are on sale through the Hurricane Ticket Office.
