Thorne Inducted Into UM Hall of Fame

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Former Hurricane great Ronald Thorne (Bridgetown, Barbados) was inducted into the University of Miami Hall of Fame on Monday night.

Thorne competed for Miami during the 1994 and 1995 seasons earning All-America honors in the 800-meters in 1995.

He won the BIG EAST Outdoor 800-meter title in 1994, and won the Indoor 800-meter in 1995. Following the 1995 BIG EAST Indoor Championships he was named the conference’s Most Outstanding Track Performer. At the 1995 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships he anchored the 4×400-meter relay to the conference title.

Thorne graduated from UM holding eight school-records. He still holds the Miami indoor record at 500-meters (1:02.02), the school outdoor mark at 800-meters (1:46.66), and is a member of three school-record relays.
