Bounds Competes in 2006 Speedo U.S. Open Championships

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Miami junior diver Heather Bounds competed in the 2006 Speedo U.S. Open Championships held in the Indiana University Natatorium on the IUPUI campus over the weekend. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
The U.S. Open is an elite level diving competition that features approximately 100 of the best divers in the USA and the world. Divers were invited to participate based on performances at previous competitions.
Bounds, a native of Houston, Texas, competed on the 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform.
On the platform, Bounds recorded her best finish of the weekend coming in fourth in the event with a score of 306.30. 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Laura Wilkinson won the event with a score of 359.30. In the semifinal, Bounds finished third with a score of 285.30.
Bounds finished ninth on the 3-meter springboard after tallying a score of 266.85. 2005 U.S. National Champion Kelci Bryant won the event with a score of 335.25.
