Women's Track and Field Ranked No. 3 in Latest Trackwire25

(hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team after a successful weekend at the Texas Relays, jumped to No. 3 in the latest Trackwire25 rankings. This is tied for the highest the Hurricanes have been ranked in the outdoor season, matching the week of June 3, 2005. Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ont.) leads the Hurricanes being ranked No. 1 in triple jump, followed closely behind Brenda Faluade (Katy, TX) who is ranked No. 2. The 4×400 meter relay is also ranked No. 1 in the Dandy Dozen.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Senior All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) is ranked fourth in the 400 meter hurdles, after finishing second at Texas Relay. Her performance is the fastest by an American this outdoor season, and set a new ACC and school record. Darden was also part of the 4×400 meter relay that won in an ACC and school record breaking mark, and now stands as the fastest in the country and second fastest in the world.
Darden was awarded ACC performer of the Week for her efforts at the Texas Relays. The award is the third of the outdoor season, and is the second consecutive for the Hurricanes.
Charles and Faluade are also ranked eighth and fifth in the long jump, respectively, in the Trackwire ranking. Senior Charlette Greggs (Miami, Fla.) and junior Ginou Etienne (Miami, Fla.) are ranked 11th in the 200 meter and 400 meter respectively. The 4×100 meter relay is ranked sixth.
