Women's Track and Field All-Americans Announced

(hurricanesports.com) – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the list of Indoor Track All-Americans for the 2006 season. Six Hurricanes earned the distinction for their performances at the NCAA Indoor Championships, four of those earned multiple accolades.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Junior Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ont.) earned all-American honors in the long jump and triple jump. Charles capped off a successful season by breaking the school record in the triple jump at the NCAA and finishing third in the event. She also finished eighth in the long jump, an event in which she set the school record at the ACC Championships. The All-American distinctions were the seventh and eighth for Charles.
Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas) also earned all-American honors in the long jump and triple jump. Faluade finished her own successful season finishing fourth, with a life time best in the triple jump. Faluade also finished seventh in the long jump. By earning All-American in those events, Faluade garnered her fourth and fifth honors.
Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) finished second in the 400-meters twice breaking the school record in the event. She also was part of the school record breaking 4×400 meter relay that finished fourth. Darden’s honors were the 11th and 12th of her career, extending her school record.
Charlette Greggs (Miami, Fla.) finished ninth in the 200-meters. She was also part of the record-breaking 4×400 meter relay. Greggs earned her 10th and 11th honors as an All-American of her career.
Ginou Etienne (Miami, Fla.) and Krista Simkins (Wissahickon, Pa.) were the final two members of the 4×400 relay team. The All-American honors were the fourth for Etienne and Simkins’ first.
These performances led the Hurricanes to a fifth place finish, the second highest in the program history.
