Tim Harris Named 2006 Indoor Track All-American
March 21, 2006
Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Tim Harris (Miami, Fla.) was named All-American in the 800-meter run for the 2006 indoor track and field season as listed on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association website (ustfccca.org). He becomes the second Hurricane to be named All-American in the 800-meter run joining Ronald Thorne in 1995.
Harris was the 800-meter champion at the ACC Indoor championships, which earned him all-ACC status for the second straight year in that event.
Harris is the second Hurricane to be a conference champion in the 800-meters in indoor track and field, again joining Ronald Thorne from 1994. Harris broke Thorne’s 800 meter record earlier this season, running 1:47.99 to qualify him for the national meet.
Harris led the Hurricanes this season earning three victories, and finishing as the top collegiate finisher in another race. He now has four collegiate victories in his career.
Harris and Hurricanes next compete this weekend in Raleigh, N.C. and the Raleigh Relays.
