Hurricanes Sign Two Swimmers for 2006-07 Season

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla.– University of Miami head swimming coach Mariusz Podkoscielny announced the signing of Kelly Peloquin and Victoria Zubowicz to National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Miami for the 2006-07 season.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Peloquin heads to Coral Gables via McDonoghSchool in Owings Mills, Md. Peloquin, who chose Miami over ArizonaState and Rutgers, also represents the North Baltimore Aquatic Club where she is coached by Paul Yetter.
“We are very excited to have Kelly join our program,” said Podkoscielny. “She is one of the most versatile swimmers ever to come to the University of Miami. She will make an immediate impact in sprint freestyle, IM, butterfly and breaststroke events. Kelly is a US Open qualifier and looks forward to making 2008 Olympic Trials.”
Zubowicz hails from Atlanta, Ga. and WestminsterSchool. She also competes for Swim Atlanta, which is coached by Doug Gjertsen. Zubowicz chose Miami over Georgia Tech.
“Victoria is going to add to our depth in breaststroke events,” Podkoscielny said. “She is a very athletic and dedicated swimmer. I look forward to her having a great summer and I believe that she will be a strong Senior National swimmer for the University of Miami next season.”
