Denson Named ACC Rookie of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman Brittany Denson has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week as announced today by the league office.

Denson turned in the best scoring outing of her UM career last Thursday on the road against Georgia Tech, recording 16 points in the Hurricanes’ 75-63 win over the Yellow Jackets in Miami’s ACC opener.

The Winter Haven, Fla. native netted 14 points in the first half against Georgia Tech and went on to finish with seven rebounds, two assists, one block and a pair of steals. On the night, Denson hit 6-of-10 shots from the floor.

She becomes the first player in UM history to earn ACC Rookie of the Week honors.

Denson and the Hurricanes will take on No. 4 North Carolina in a televised match-up on Fox Sports Net tonight at 7 p.m.
