Miami's Tamara James Named ACC Player of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior forward Tamara James averaged nearly 26 points per game in leading the University of Miami to a 2-1 week, earning Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors.
James poured in 25.7 points per game for the week, highlighted by a season-high 31 points in a 100-62 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday. James was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line in the contest, and hauled in five rebounds, four of which were on the offensive end of the floor. James was 8-for-14 from the field, and hit four of her six 3-point attempts.
James, a native of Dania, Fla., followed that performance with 22 points in a 76-47 win over Siena the following day. James was 9-for-12 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She had a pair of rebounds, two blocks and added four steals on the day.
James started her week with a game-high 24 points in a 68-61 loss to George Mason on Wednesday. James also managed seven rebounds and four steals in the game, and was 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
For the week, James made all 20 of her free throw attempts, and averaged 4.7 rebounds per game. She also picked up 11 steals on the week, averaging 3.7 per contest as Miami improved to 5-1. James was 26-of-47 from the field (55.3 percent).
