Phlatts Leads Hurricanes At Disney Classic

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Sophomore DeeDee Phlatts (Silver Spring, Md.) was the Hurricanes’ top finisher placing 39th overall to lead the University of Miami Women’s Cross Country team to a 13th-place finish at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Phlatts completed the five kilometer course in a time of 19:40.45 and has now been the Hurricanes’ top finisher at two events this season. Sonja Friend-Uhl, running unattached, won the race in a time of 17:20.00. The top collegiate finisher was Tampa’s Allison Macsas in a time of 17:34.89.

Miami recorded 400 points to place 13th out of 33 teams. Florida (39 points) won the team title.

The Hurricanes return to action on Saturday, October 15 at the Chili Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
