Hurricanes Down FAU and Barry in Spring Matches

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – The University of Miami women’s volleyball team competed in spring matches against FAU and Barry Saturday, April 9th at the Knight Sports Complex. The Hurricanes played two four-game matches, claiming 3-1 victories against both teams.

“Overall I was pleased with the progress that we are making,” said head coach Nicole Lantagne Welch. “I think that we’re improving and getting better each week, which is exactly what you want to have happen.”
Among the standouts in the two matches was redshirt sophomore Frannie Savage and sophomore Sara Duncan.
“Frannie continues to shine out there. She has really taken her game to another level. She’s playing very well for us.
“Sara also had a nice day practicing.”
Lantagne Welch was also impressed with the team’s serving during the two matches, “As a team, it was one of our best days serving. We’ve really improved in that area.”
The Hurricanes, who were originally slated to play PennState to close out the spring season, will now face a group of former players and their coaches at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the Knight Sports Complex.
