UM Diver Heather Bounds Qualifies For U.S Open

MIDLAND, Tex. – Sophomore diver Heather Bounds qualified for the 2005 U.S. Open on the 10-meter platform Thursday afternoon. The competition which begins Friday, April 8th and goes through Sunday, April 10th, will be held at the Mabee Memorial Aquatic Center in Midland Texas.
Bounds finished sixth on the platform with a score of 227.13 in the final day of the qualifying competition. The top 20 divers advance to the U.S. Open. Florida State’s Courtney McClow qualified first with a score of 245.19.
The U.S. Open will feature 2004 Olympians Laura Wilkinson, Troy Dumais, Justin Dumais and Cassandra Cardinell.
