Williams Receives Degree

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Olympic silver medalist Lauryn Williams (Rochester, Pa.) received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami Thursday morning during Fall Commencement Ceremonies at the Convocation Center.

Williams, who completed her degree in three and a half years, addressed her fellow graduates during the ceremony describing her experiences as a student-athlete at Miami.

Williams was a nine-time All-American and 2004 NCAA National Champion in the 100-meters as a member of the UM women’s track and field team from 2002-04. This summer she captured the silver medal in the 100-meters at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece propelling her into the national spotlight.

A total of 11 Hurricane student-athletes received degrees on Thursday.
