COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Miami women’s cross country team finished 11th overall with 305 points Saturday at the 2004 ACC Women’s Cross Country Championships in College Park, Md.

Six Hurricane runners combined for an average time of 26:29.04 over the 6K course highlighted by UM’s top finisher, junior Melanie Schultz, who placed 31st overall with a time of 23:17.9.

Freshman Delia Phlatts was Miami next highest finisher, coming in with a time of 25:17.1 to place 64th followed by senior Marilyn Ruiz, whose time of 25:38.2 was good for 71st.

Sophomores Ginou Etienne and Allison Mcelhaney placed 82nd and 83rd, respectively while freshman Katie McInvale closed out the field at 84th.

Duke claimed the overall title, winning their first ACC cross country crown with a total of 29 points. The Blue Devils placed five runners in the top ten led by the 2004 ACC Individual Champion Sally Meyerhoff, who finished with a time of 21:34.2.
