Senior Valeria Tipiana Named ACC Player of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. – Senior rightside hitter Valeria Tipiana was named Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, it was announced Monday. She becomes the first Miami volleyball player to earn the honor in the Hurricanes’ inaugural season in the ACC.
Tipiana helped the Hurricanes extend their five-match win streak with conference wins over Florida State and Virginia Tech last week.
The Lima, Peru native hit a match-high 23 kills in the Hurricanes’ five-game road win over the Seminoles and posted her sixth double-double of the season after recording 11 digs. She also added four assists, one service ace and two blocks.
Tipiana led all players in the Hurricanes’ three-game victory over Virginia Tech by hitting 13 kills on 26 swings for a .423 hitting percentage. She added seven digs, three assists, three service aces and three blocks.
The Hurricanes’ all-time leader in kills improves her season hitting percentage to .352, having hit .388 over the two matches.
The Hurricanes return to action Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to South Carolina to face ACC rival Clemson.
