Brtuvan Leads Hurricanes To Sweep Of FIU

Miami, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami junior Alex Brutvan (Boca Raton, Fla.) recorded his fourth career collegiate victory to lead the Miami men’s cross country team to a pair of sweeps against FIU and Florida Memorial in a double-dual meet held Friday night at Tropical Park in Miami.

Miami, ranked 15th in the South Region, recorded a 15-49 win over FIU, and a 15-50 win over Florida Memorial.

Brutvan completed the four-mile course in a time of 21:51 and finished just one second ahead of sophomore teammate Tom Berry (Stamford, Conn.). Brutvan and Berry have finished one-two for the Hurricanes in 12 consecutive races.

Miami runners recorded the top-6 places with sophomore Zach Castiglione (Brighton, Mich.) taking third (21:55), sophomore Jon Scheiner (Katy, Texas) placing fourth (21:58), junior James Mullaly (Ellicott City, Md.) finishing fifth (22:09), and senior Billy Bludgus (Bayonne, N.J.) taking sixth (22:16).

The men’s cross country will now prepare for the ACC Cross Country Championships, October 30, in College Park, Md.
