Hurricanes Conclude Day Two of the Gator Fall Classic

Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis squad concluded Saturday’s round of competition at the Women’s Tennis Gator Fall Classic in University of Florida’s Ring Tennis Complex, winning five out of six singles matches and overcoming tournament host Florida in one doubles match.
Miami Megan Bradley (2)-Audrey Banada tandem which was ranked 28th by the ITA in the preseason rankings, overcame Florida’s Jennifer Magley-Zerene Reyes (12) duo, 8-2 to start the day.
The Hurricanes went on to win five out of the six singles matches against Kentucky highlighted by Bradley’s 6-4, 6-4 win over Kentucky’s Sarah Foster (32). Sophomore Emily Mowery followed suit defeating the Wildcat’s Kim Coventry, 6-0, 6-3. Junior Melissa Applebaum (121) likwise deafeated Danielle Petrisko 6-4, 7-6. Freshman Juliette Mavroleon defeated Lara Maurer, 6-1, 6-1 while classmate Caren Seenauth overcame Christine Simpson by winning the third set tiebreaker, 11-9 for a final score of 6-1, 1-6, 1-0.
Miami returns to action Sunday for the conclusion of the Women’s Tennis Gator Fall Classic when they take on Florida State in doubles and tournament host Florida in singles competition.
