Cross Country Travels To Gainesville

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action at the Gator Cross Country Invitational this Saturday, September 18 in Gainesville, Fla.
The meet is scheduled to take place at the University of Florida Golf Course, but may be moved to Santa Fe Community College if course conditions are poor.
Nineteen colleges are currently registered to compete. The men’s 8K race will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the women’s 5K race at 8:45 a.m.
The University of Miami men’s team is fresh off last weekend’s victory at the FIU/Lourdes Invitational at Tropical Park. Miami, which swept the meet for the second consecutive year, was led by junior Alex Brutvan (Boca Raton, Fla.) who was the top collegiate finisher completing the 5K course in a time of 16:00.50.
The UM women are led by junior Melanie Schultz (Davison, Mich.) who recorded her third career victory at the FIU/Lourdes Invitational. Schultz won easily completing the two-mile course in a time of 11:22.61. The Hurricane women placed second at the meet.
