Hurricane Club Raises $5.14 million, Sets New Record for UM Athletics
June 23, 2004
Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami Hurricane Club recently completed its annual campaign to raise funds for student-athlete scholarships at the institution.
At the close of the campaign, volunteers and supporters combined efforts to raise $5,142,902, a 21% increase over the previous year, and surpassing the $5 million goal set for the campaign. The amount also signifies a new single-year record for annual giving to UM Athletics, smashing last year’s record of $4.24 million, and marks the third consecutive year in which the Hurricane Club has set a new fundraising record.
Highlighting this year’s campaign was the highly successful “110% Club”, in which donors were asked to increase their commitment by 10% over the previous year. In all, over 1,300 donors participated in the program, generating much-needed revenue.
In reaching these all-time records, the Hurricane Club continues toward its ultimate goal of raising the entire $8 million needed annually to fully fund the cost of our student-athlete scholarships.
