2004 Spring Tour – Southwest Florida Golf Classic Raises over $ 47,000 for Hurricane Athletics
Golf tournament and auction raises money for the Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund and Hecht Athletic Center Enhancement Project

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The 2004 Hurricane Club Spring Tour made its annual stop to Southwest Florida on May 1st at Heritage Palms Golf and Country Club in Ft. Myers, FL. The SWF Golf Classic raised over $47,000, with the proceeds benefiting the University of Miami Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund and the Hecht Athletic Center Enhancement Project.

Head Football Coach Larry Coker and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Ferne Labati were on hand to discuss each of their programs. Assistant Head Football Coach Art Kehoe also addressed the crowd to prepare for the upcoming season opener, the Monday night football match up with rival Florida State.

Coach Kehoe’s former Hurricane teammate, Don Bailey Jr., served as Master of Ceremonies for the day, and auctioned off a trip with the football team to the game at the University of Houston, VIP Experience for the 2005 ACC men’s basketball game vs. Duke at the Convocation Center and many more items.

On the Friday night before the golf tournament, the Hurricane Club and the University of Miami Alumni Association hosted a dinner featuring Coach Coker. The dinner and raffle raised $3,000 to benefit the University of Miami Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.
