Women's Golf Ninth At NCAA Regional

Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s golf team fired an opening round 309 on Thursday and is in ninth-place after the first day of competition at the NCAA East Regional Golf Championship in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.

The top eight teams and next two individuals advance to the NCAA Championship Finals, May 18-21, in Auburn, Alabama.

Miami, which entered the East Regional as the No. 17 seed, was led by freshman Tiffany Prats (Williston, Fla.) who recorded a two-over-par 74 on Thursday and is tied for 13th.

Top-ranked Duke posted a score of 286 to take the first-round team lead, while North Carolina’s Meaghan Francella is the individual first round leader after opening with a three-under-par 69.
