Miami Lakes, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami senior Camilla Hilland (Lommedalen, Norway) recorded a one-under-par 71 to move into a first-place tie with Rollins’ Ulrika Ljungman heading into Sunday’s final round of the Ryder Florida Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship being held at Don Shula’s Golf Club and Resort in Miami Lakes, Fla.
Hilland (79-71-150), who won the Ryder Championship as a sophomore in 2002, and Ljundman (78-72-150) lead by one stroke over Florida Atlantic’s Natalia Navarro (79-72-151) and South Florida’s Daniella Ronderos (75-76-151).
Hilland is attempting to become just the third player in the 34-year history of the tournament to win the title for a second time. Miami’s Tracy Kerdyk won the title in 1987 and 1988, and Florida’s Riko Higashio won back-to-back titles in 1996 and 1997.
Rollins College, the 2003 NCAA Division II National Champion, leads the team competition (309-302-611) by six strokes. Miami (320-297-617) fired a tournament low 297 on Saturday to move into a tie for second with first round leader South Florida (305-312-617). Two-time defending champion Florida State is fourth (318-310-628).
