Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami Hurricane Club has begun preparations for their 2004 fund drive entitled “The Team Behind The Teams,” an annual campaign to raise funds for scholarship support for the student-athletes at the University.

Chapters from around Florida and the country are working on preparations for this year’s drive, setting a goal of $5 million by May 31, 2004, building on last year’s record and all-time highs of $4.24 million raised and 5,700 donors.

The Hurricane Club is seeking out volunteers from across the country to assist in contacting Hurricane fans and alumni to help reach our goal. For your efforts, you will be recognized as a vital member of the Hurricane Club support team in various publications, an opportunity to win some exciting prizes, and most importantly, the knowledge and satisfaction your time, energy and contributions are ensuring UM’s status as one of our nation’s elite programs.

Without question, “The Team Behind The Teams” annual campaign is paramount in overcoming one of the biggest challenges facing Hurricane Athletics, the $8 million scholarship support needed to provide a quality education and college experience for our student-athletes. There has never been a greater need for your assistance as a volunteer for Hurricane Athletics.

For more information on how to assist the chapter in your area, contact Pat Kreger at the Hurricane Club at (305) 284-6699, or e-mail at pkreger@miami.edu today.
