Dec. 4, 2003

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Members of the University of Miami men’s and women’s track and field teams will hold a clinic for approximately 60 elementary and middle school age children Saturday, December 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, FL.

The clinic is part of the “Join a Team, Not a Gang” program, sponsored by the University of Miami and the Miami-Dade Police Department, which helps Dade Country youths find positive alternatives to gangs.

The children participating are part of an after-school tutoring and recreational program at Carol City Park and Goulds Park and will be taught the fundamentals of several track and field events including sprinting, hurdling, throwing the shot put, long jumping and triple jumping.

This weekend will mark the second straight year, and the third time in the last four years, that the University of Miami men’s and women’s track programs and the Miami-Dade Police Department have joined together to hold the clinic.
