Nov. 1, 2003
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team will host BIG EAST rival Pittsburgh on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Knight Sports Complex.
With a win over the Panthers (18-4, 7-1 BIG EAST), the Hurricanes (19-6, 7-1 BIG EAST) can take sole possession of second place in the BIG EAST standings. UM and Pittsburgh are currently tied for the second spot behind conference leading Notre Dame.
“This is an important match for us,” Head Coach Nicole Lantagne Welch said. “This will be an opportunity for Miami to get back to the top of the BlG EAST standings. Pittsburgh has a great team and they return everyone from last season. This should be a great battle.”
The Hurricanes and Pittsburgh have split the school’s two previous meetings after the Panthers downed Miami, 3-2 last season in Pittsburgh.
Miami is currently riding a three-match win streak after downing West Virginia, 3-0 on Friday night and remain undefeated all-time at 8-0 against BIG EAST opponents in Coral Gables.
Sunday’s match will be broadcast live on WVUM 90.5 FM and can be heard live on the web on hurricanesports.com.
