Women's Golf Heads To Pine Needles Collegiate

Southern Pines, N.C. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s golf team returns to action, November 3-4, at the Pine Needles Collegiate being played at Pine Needles Golf Course in Southern Pines, NC.
The par 71, 6,017 yard course was the site of the 1996 U.S. Women’s Open and is scheduled to host the U.S. Women’s Open again in 2007. The tournament is the final event of the fall season for the Hurricanes.
The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes being played on Monday, November 3 followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, November 4. The tournament is scheduled to open with a shot-gun start at 8:30 a.m. Monday. A double tee start is scheduled for Tuesday with groups beginning play on the first and 10th holes at 8 a.m.
Miami, which has finished in the top-5 of all four tournaments this season, is led by junior Tina Miller (Miami Archbishop Curley Notre Dame). Miller has already registered two victories this season including a win at the season-opening Cougar Classic, and a victory at the Beacon Woods Invitational.
Miller has been the Hurricanes’ top finisher in three events this season and leads the team with a 75.1 stoke average. Senior Camilla Hilland (Lommedalen, Norway) ranks second on the team with a 77.5 stroke average, and has registered one top-10 and two other top-20 finishes this season.
