Savage Earns BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla.(hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team’s Francheska Savage has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for week ending Oct. 12 after leading the Hurricanes to two conference wins over Georgetown and Villanova over the weekend.

The red shirt freshman from Ft. Myers, Fla. set a career-high hitting .875 percent with seven kills on eight attempts in a three-game sweep over Villanova on Sunday, Oct. 12 and tied a career-high with five total blocks adding five kills in a 3-0 win over the Hoyas on Friday, Oct. 10.

Savage is third on the Hurricanes’ roster with 0.71 blocks per game and has appeared in 45 games with ten starts this season.

Savage and the Hurricane volleyball team will return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 14, traveling to Tampa, Fla. to take on in-state rival South Florida at 7 p.m.
