Hurricanes Take to the Road to Face South Florida

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team will break from conference play on Tuesday night, traveling to Tampa, Fla. to take on in-state rival South Florida at 7 p.m.
The Hurricanes (15-4, 5-0 BIG EAST) enter the contest, riding a seven-match win streak after downing conference opponents Georgetown and Villanova last weekend in Coral Gables.
Miami leads the series with USF (8-12, 2-2 C-USA), downing the Bulls, 3-1 in the two school’s only meeting last season in Coral Gables on Oct. 21.
“We are looking forward to a great match with South Florida,” Head Coach Nicole Lantagne Welch said. “It is very important for us to do well in this match. Our win last year against USF was a major reason we made the NCAA tournament.”
Redshirt freshman Francheska Savage will look to continue her hot play after being name the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12. The Ft. Myers native lead the Hurricanes to at 3-0 win over Villanova, setting a career-high .875 hitting percentage with seven kills on eight attempts.
