Schultz Win Second Straight Cross Country Meet

Miami, FL (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami sophomore Melanie Schultz (Davison, MI) won for the second consecutive meet to lead the women’s cross country team to a second-place finish at the FIU/Lourdes Cross Country Invitational at Tamiami Park in Miami, FL.
Schultz, who completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:59.59 for her second win this season, also won the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish Invitational on August 30th.
Miami, which finished with 36 points, had five runners finish in the top-12 individually. Host Florida International won the meet with 23 points.
UM junior Marilyn Ruiz (Hallendale, FL) finished fourth with a time of 19:46.59 while senior Terria Madison (Columbus, GA) placed eighth with a time of 20:52.49.
Closing out the Miami scoring were seniors Christian Delgadillo and Michelle White. Delgadillo finished 11th with a time of 21:09.45, while White took 12th with a time of 21:54.16.
The UM women’s cross country team returns to action on October 11 at the Disney Invitational in Orlando, FL.
