UM Men Sweep Sailfish Invitational

West Palm Beach, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s cross country team swept the top seven spots to win the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish Invitational, Saturday morning, at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, FL.

The Hurricanes, who recorded the first sweep in school-history, posted 15 points in winning the opening meet of the season. Florida Tech was second with 63 points while Florida International was third (88 points).

Leading Miami was sophomore Alex Brutvan (Boca Raton, FL) who completed the five kilometer course in a time of 16:30. Brutvan edged out teammate Thomas Berry, a freshman from Stanford, CT, for his first collegiate victory.

UM sophomore James Mullaly (Ellicott City, MD) finished third individually with a time of 16:32 while junior Billy Bludgus placed fourth in a time of 16:33. Freshman Zachery Castiglione (Brighton, MI) finished fifth (16:38) to complete the UM sweep.

The Hurricanes return to action on September 13 at FIU Invitational.
