Notre Dame Match to be Televised

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team will face BIG EAST rival Notre Dame on Nov. 9 in a nationally televised game, which will be broadcast on College Sports Television (CSTV).
The Hurricanes will look to challenge the defending BIG EAST Champions as they travel to South Bend, Ind. Miami was recently picked to finish second in the BIG EAST preseason poll behind Notre Dame.
Last season the Hurricanes defeated the Fighting Irish during the regular season, 3-2, snapping Notre Dame’s 43-game winning streak against BIG EAST opponents. The Irish knocked off UM in the conference finals of The BIG EAST Tournament, 3-1.
Head Coach Nicole Lantagne Welch on the rivalry, “I think the Notre Dame match will be very important in terms of the BIG EAST race. The match up will have the two teams picked to finish first and second in the BIG EAST, so obviously there will be a lot riding on this match.”
The match will air on College Sports Television (CSTV), the first 24-hour college sports network at 6 p.m. CSTV has joined with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) to present a national volleyball match of the week package called Sunday Night Spike TV. Sunday Night Spike TV will feature 15 teams who competed in the 2002 NCAA Championships.
