Six Individuals Qualify NCAA Regional Finals

Fairfax, VA (hurricanesports.com) – Six members of the University of Miami women’s track and field team advanced to their respective finals at the NCAA East Regional Championships in Fairfax, VA.

Freshman All-American Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern) and senior All-American Sashanie Simpson (Miami, FL) each won their preliminary heats of the 400-meters to advance to Saturday’s final. Greggs, who is undefeated this outdoor season, posted the second fastest qualifying time (52.72). Simpson won her heat with a time of 53.17 seconds.

Sophomore All-American Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) advanced to the finals of the 100-meters with a time of 11.46 seconds.

Williams along with Greggs, freshman All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, PA) and Simpson won their heat of the 4×100-meter relay (44.17) to advance to Saturday’s final.

Senior All-American Sharianne Lawson (Palm Beach Lakes) was also impressive in the 100-meter hurdles advancing to the final winning her preliminary heat in a time of 13.43 seconds.

Senior All-American Patricia Pearson (Jacksonville, FL) won her heat in the 800-meters (2:07.10) and Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA) finished first in her heat of the 400-meter hurdles (58.04) to advance to their respective finals on Saturday.
