UM Relays Win at Georgia Tech Invitational

Atlanta, Ga. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s4x100-meter relay and 4×400-meter relay were both victorious at theGeorgiaTech Invitational in Atlanta, GA.
The Hurricanes’ fifth-ranked 4×100-meter relay of freshmanAll-AmericanCharlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern), senior All-American SharianneLawson(Palm Beach Lakes), freshman India Ransom (Largo, Maryland) andsophomoreAll-American Lauryn Williams (Rochester, Pennsylvania) won with a timeof44.24 seconds.
The fourth-ranked 4×400-meter relay of senior Terria Madison(Columbus,Georgia), sophomore Wianda Moore (Spring, Texas), senior All-AmericanPatricia Pearson (Jacksonville, Florida) and senior All-American Saraque
Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) finished first in a timeof3:37.14.
Williams and Greggs were also standouts individually. Williams wasthetop collegiate finisher in the 200-meters finishing in a time of 23.42,whileGreggs was the top collegiate finisher in the 400-meters in a time of53.38.
The Georgia Tech Invitational is the final tune-up for theHurricanesprior to the NCAA Regional Championships, May 30-31, in Fairfax,Virginia.Miami has qualified 17 student-athletes in 12 different events.
