May 1, 2003

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s track and field team travels to the University of Connecticut for the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 4-6, in Storrs, CT.

Miami enters this weekend’s conference championships with a strong contingent and looks to improve on last season’s ninth-place finish.

UM will look to do most of its scoring in the sprints as seven Hurricanes qualified in the 100-meters including freshman Terrell Walden (Miami Edison), the 2003 BIG EAST Indoor 60-meter champion, sophomore Roscoe Parrish (Miami Senior), sophomore Tanard Davis (Miami Southridge), freshman Travarous Bain (Miami Northwestern), sophomore Sean Taylor (Miami Gulliver), freshman Kelly Jennings (Live Oak, FL) and junior Jerrell Weaver (Miami Northwestern).

UM will have four competing in the pole vault including senior Aaron Bass (Hillsborg, OR), junior Jonathan Mark (St. Charles, IL), junior Russell Landy (Miami James Bryant) and sophomore Chris Centrich (Hamburg, NY).

Seniors Dan Boniface and Kenneth Frank are also expected to give the Hurricanes needed scoring this weekend. Boniface will compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase while Frank has qualified in the 110-meter hurdles.
