Men's Track Qualifies Five Individual, One Relay For BIG EAST Championships

Miami, FL (hurricanesports.com) – Junior Russell Landy (Miami James Bryant) qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in the pole vault and long jump to lead the University of Miami at the FIU Invitational in Miami, FL.

Landy, who has already qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in the decathlon, finished second in the long jump with a leap of 7.02 meters (23-00.50) and tied for second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.50 meters (14-09.00).

The Hurricanes had a total of three individuals qualify for the BIG EAST Championships in the pole vault. Joining Landy with conference qualifying marks were sophomore Chris Centrich (Hamburg, NY) and junior Jon Mark (St. Charles, IL) who both recorded vaults of 4.50 meters (14-09.00).

Two Hurricane sprinters recorded BIG EAST qualifying times in the 200-meters. Sophomore Roscoe Parrish (Miami Senior) won the event in a time of 21.90 seconds while sophomore Sean Taylor (Miami Gulliver Prep) finished third in a time of 22.10 seconds.

Miami’s 4×100-meter relay of Parrish, freshman Travarous Bain (Miami Northwestern), sophomore Tanard Davis (Miami Southridge) and freshman Terrell Walden (Miami Edison) also qualified for the BIG EAST Championships placing first with a time of 41.30.

Walden also won his second consecutive 100-meter race this outdoor season posting a time of 11.0 seconds.
