UM Volleyball To Host Spring Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – Fresh from its stellar 2002 campaign, the University of Miami volleyball team will test its mettle against several teams from South Florida Saturday at the Knight Sports Complex.
The Hurricanes have had several outstanding performances this spring, including splitting a two-game match with Florida two weeks ago in Gainesville.
In 2002, UM rolled to an outstanding 27-5 record that included victories over Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, South Florida, and Duke.
Saturday’s tournament will provide a look at what may be in store for the Hurricanes in the fall of 2003. Two of the four teams that UM will host will also be on the schedule next season.
The gym will open at 8 a.m. and play will start at 9 a.m. Two courts will be utilized.
UM will play Miami-Dade CC at 9 a.m.; FIU at 10:15 a.m.; FAU at 1:15 p.m. and Barry at 2:15 p.m.
UM’s 2003 home opener is Aug. 29 when they will host Manhattan, Kent State and Indiana in the Hurricane Invitational.
