Hurricanes Qualify Four For Big East Championships

GAINESVILLE, FL – The University of Miami men’strack and field team had four athletes record BIG EAST qualifying marksduring the second day of competition at the Florida Relays in Gainesville,FL.
Junior Aaron Bass (Hillsborg, OR) recorded a mark of 4.58 meters(15-00.25) in the pole vault to qualify for the BIG EAST Outdoor Track andField Championships, May 2-4, in Storrs, CT. Bass has now qualified for theBIG EAST Championships every season during his Hurricane career.
Senior Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA) finished fourth in the 3,000-metersteeplechase with a BIG EAST qualifying mark of 9:25.26, while senior KennethFrank (Pomona, NY) qualified in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.11seconds.
Junior Russell Landy (Miami James Bryant) recorded a BIG EAST qualifyingmark in the decathlon posting a score of 5601 points.
In other action freshman Alex Brutvan (Boca Raton, FL) finished 11th inthe 5,000-meters with a time of 15:11.37. In addition, freshman James Mullaly(Ellicott City, MD) finished 36th in the 1,500-meters (4:05.70) whilesophomore James Ballard (Pleasant Praire, WI) finished 50th in the 400-meters(50.70).
Competition concludes on Saturday, March 29 with field events beginningat noon. Running events will begin at 3 p.m.
