UM Athletics Promotes Two

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – Paul Dee, University of Miami Director of Athletics, announced today that Penni Key and Connie Nickel have received promotions to Associate Athletic Director for Internal Services and Associate Athletic Director/Senior Women’s Administrator respectively.

In making the announcement, Dee said “Both Penni and Connie have earned these promotions through their excellent work and efforts”.

UM administrator Penni Key was recently promoted.

In her new role, Key will oversee compliance, academics and sports medicine as well as other administrative duties. Key, came to the University of Miami in September of 1998 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in 2001. She earned an undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois and a Master of Science degree from Western Illinois.

Nickel will be responsible for overseeing the staging of events, scheduling of football and men’s and women’s basketball games, coordinating the efforts of all spirit squads and supervising Olympic sports (golf, rowing, soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s track and field and volleyball).She joined the University of Miami athletic department as an intern in 1986 and went on the hold positions Assistant Director and Director and Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. Nickel received an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University.
