Women's Basketball Hosts Virginia Tech

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami women’s basketball team plays the second game of a three-game homestand hosting Virginia Tech Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center.
The Hurricanes (12-5 overall, 4-2 in the BIG EAST) look for their first win in the new building after falling to Syracuse 62-59 Saturday night.
The Hokies (13-4 overall, 4-2 in the BIG EAST) are on a three-game winning streak after beating Rutgers 66-64 in overtime Wednesday night in Blackburg, Va.
The Hokies have the slight advantage in the all-time series leading 2-1. Miami won the last meeting between the two teams knocking off then-ranked VT 55-53 in Knight Sports Complex last season.
Five teams are tied for third place in the BIG EAST standings with conference records of 4-2, Miami, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Villanova and Virginia Tech.
Connecticut owns the first place spot at 6-0 in conference while Boston College is second at 5-1.
Tamara James (Dania, Fla.) continues to lead Miami averaging 23.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
Ieva Kublina leads the Hokies averaging 14.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
