Helene Bell: Tequesta, FL: Congratulations on a great season and thanks for all the wonderful memories. Your successes were based on a total team effort. Each player was key to the overall success of the seaon.I wish your final game would have turned out differently, but remember that the higher you stand and harder the fall. Ken, you’re the ultimate team player. Todd, you came through many times. Willis, hang in there and get well soon. See you next year. Go Canes.
Ed Reynolds: Providence RI The ref took our National Championship from us. We did not win any individual awards(Heisman, etc..). Next season we must have an Us against the world mentality. I don’t know maybe they’re jealous of us. Mr. Mcgahee good luck in the NFL!!
jim mitt: steubenville, ohio: congrats to you guys on a fine season. Although im a buckeye fan, i can understand how you guys feel…..Good luck next year. I hope we both meet again in another great game. thx. jim
Waymon Tyson: Conway, South Carolina: I am a freshman at Conway High School. I am currently on my schools varsity football team. I play defensive of back and I have a 3.5GPA. I really love your football program and have a desire to play there someday. The team had an awesome season this year. If you can, could you please send me more information about your program. I am very interested in your program, and I will send more e-mails in the future to keep you updated. I hope you have another outstanding season next year.Go HURRICANES!!!
Debbie McNally: Plantation, FL:To the 2002 HurricanesCongratulations on another great season. My husband and I are UM Alumni and we have loved the canes through many years. We have seen all the championship games and this year we were at the Fiesta Bowl along with our two kids routing for you guys. You have worked so hard this year and we have been to every home game and we even flew up to NJ to catch the Rutgers game. We are very proud of all of you. Every player and every coach. You have brought respect to our university. Even Lee Corso had nice things to say about the University of Miami football team! To the seniors and the players who may leave school this year, we will miss you but we will be following your future endeavors. You will always be a cane. We are looking forward to next season and my family and I will be at every game. Thank you again for a great season. There is nothing like Hurricane Football. GO CANES!
Frank Perez: Miami, Florida: Thanks for another great year. We will be back to prove the anti-Canes wrong, again. MIAMI is #1 and don’t U forget it.
: Ira Price: Miami Florida
: 1. Get well Willis.
2. I can’t wait for letter of intent day.
3. I can’t wait for Spring practice.
4. I can’t wait for next year.
5. Great run.
6. Its great to be a Miami Hurricane.
Sarah, 12: Boynton Beach, Florida: Here’s a song that me and my friend made for the Canes:It’s a jingle for Hurricanes, those mighty powerful Hurricanes! They were cheated out of victory because of the ohio state refuree. If they would have won they would have been #1 but instead their #2. Kraig the pretzel(ohio QB) ruined McGahee’s future, Dorsey know plays pro ball and Winslow’s our star player, now we have Berlin who used to be a gator. We hate the noles and the gators, but most of all the buckeyes!!The team that always fights back, HURRICANES!! GO HURRICANES!I absolutely LOVE the Hurricanes, especially Dorsey!!#1 Fan in the world,Sarah
BOB DOUGHERTY: 325 KIDDER STREET, WILKES BARRE,PA 18702: I WOULD LIKE TAKE A MOMENT TO THANK EACH AND EVERY PLAYER, COACH AND STAFF MEMBER FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION THAT WAS REQUIRED TO PRODUCE SUCH A TREMENDOUS SEASON.I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR THE WONDERFUL MEMORYS OF THIS PAST SEASON.PLEASE ACCEPT MY MOST SINCERE THANKS AND BEST WISHES FOR FUTURE SUCCESS.GO CANES!!
ralph andrews : memphis, tn: I first would like to say tha I am very proud of the Cnaes on your past three seasons, you all set a standard for the rest of the college football nation, and you did it with class. Second i would like to thank the (BCS) for sending their specially amde referees, that was the worst officiating hame that I have ever seen and I am not just saying that because I am a Canes fan that was down right pitiful. We know and the rest of the world knows that we repeated as National champions put because of politics and jealousy we are not, but they better beware of next season and seasons to come becuase their is A HURRICANE on the uprise and I would hate to be on the recieving end of the Canes wrath. Good Luck to all the seniors especially Ken and Brett and also to the juniors that have declared themselves eligible for the draft and to Willis keep your head up and stay focused it will pay off in the long run.. THE CANES WILL WIN IT ALL IN 2003!!!!!!
RYAN BOWEN: PORTLAND, OR: this message is 4 willis mgahee,i was terribly sad at your accident and i hope and pray that you will keep your head up and keep playing. I play football at my high school, and i couldnt imagine having such an injury.you’re in my prayers
Jason Reed: Valdosta, GA: First let me say a wonderful season, I’ve been a hurricane fan for a long time, I have a son due in 6 weeks. His room is already covered with Miami, I want to instill the best values I can with him, and it starts by having a love for the best football program ever.Great Coaching staff, excellent talent, and more passion than any other football team. True fan through and through, GO CANES
Jason Cottingham: Unionville Tennessee: Dear “Mighty Miami Hurricanes,” You know i watched the fiesta bowland i didn’t like how the bad callswere made on you guys, i have been amiami hurricane fan since 1988, forme that’s a long time and i know thismuch that the ohio state buckeyes didnot diserve to win the sears trophy,I thought that you guys diserved itmore than they did, here at home inTennessee i was telling my father thatyou guys were robbed of the nationaltitle, still i was sad that you guyslost and it wasn’t right, still as aMiami Hurricane fan i hope that youguys have another undefeated seasonin 2003 and get that sears title trophyagain, GO MIAMI HURRICANES!!!!
Tom Van Popering: Charlotte, NC: What a run, it was great… I am an avid fan, traveled to Va Tech last year and sat in the middle of their alumni section than of course to The Rose Bowl to bask in our National Championship. This past year, I saw the Tennessee game, Va Tech in Miami and finally The Fiesta in Tempe. Of course it will take many years to get over the interference call in the first overtime…Well we were National Champs again for 8 seconds…Anyway, I like many hurricane fans know you guys are the true winners and I look forward to another great year on the road!!! Go Canes….
TENIKKI CARTER: AUSTIN, TX 78729: FIRST, CONGRATULATIONS ON A 34 CONSECUTIVE WIN STREAK THAT GOT WASHED UP IN ALL THE BCS DEBATE. EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY KNOWS THAT MIAMI WAS THE HATED LOVE CHILD THIS SEASON AND PROBABLY NEXT SEASON AS WELL. I JUST WISHED OUR TEAM WILL HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH AND LOOK AT YOURSELF AS CHAMPIONS THAT THE TEAM IS. NO ONE WANTED THE CANES TO REPEAT, BUT THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT MIAMI WILL BE BACK. SECONDLY, WHEN YOU HAVE EVERYTHING ON THE LINE, AND OSU HAD NOTHING TO LOSE, THEN EVEN BAYLOR CAN UPSET YOU. SO, IT HAPPENS BUT JUST KNOW THAT YOUR FAN CLUB WEIGHS HEAVY OUTSIDE OF FLORIDA; EVEN LIVING IN TEXAS FOR MORE THAN 6YRS AND RESIDING IN AUSTIN, NO LONGHORN FAN! WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT, THE CANES (1ST), SEMINOLES (2ND), AND THE GATORS. FLORIDA FOOTBALL IS THE TALIBAN, AND ALL OTHER COLLEGE FOOTBALL PROGRAMS ARE TERRORIZING THE CANES SKILLS. SEE, YOU IN THE FIESTA BOWL 2004. OH YEA, SWEET REVENGE IS SWEETER, AND FOR OSU, SEE YA IN 2037?
Bill DeMarco: Marlton, NJ: Congratulations on an amazing season. I want to thank all of you for your efforts and your amazing self-respect in defeat. Truer gentlemen could not be found. Also, congratulations to Willis McGahee on successful surgery and to Willis and Andre Johnson for their entries into the NFL draft. Good luck to them and all the seniors in the pros. Ken Dorsey, congratulations on another stellar performance in the East-West Shrine Game. Here is to next year and another run to the National Championship.
billy nelson: okeechobee, florida: Iwant you to know that i am your biggest fan and i think we got robbed!!!! That was the most rediculous call i have ever seen in football. My father in law and myself were already high-fiving and celebrating(we woke all the kids in the house up) when out of the clear blue here comes a flag!! And then we have to read the ref’s comments that “he was replaying it in his mind” thats why it ook him so long to throw the flag!!! Any way we will be back next year and we will go all the way!! May God Bless All of you abundantly and we pray for a healthy recovery for Willis McGahee!
Casey Riley: Pittsburgh, PA: No sweat baby, we will be back. I’m holding down the haters here in the burgh. All I say is 34, dam good job. I was a dam freshman the last time I saw you guys lose, what a streak. You guys should be proud of that. Now you young guys have to carry on the dynasty those seniors have given you. Every Cane fan knows you can.All the support to Willis, hope his recovery is succesful and can lead the team to another title in 2003. peace and love,GO ‘CANES IN 2003
Brian Shaffer: Cincinnati, Ohio: Congratulations on another outstanding season. I am a very big fan coming all the way from Ohio. Oddly enough, I am an OSU graduate but a huge Hurricane fan. Although very outnumbered, I was pulling very hard for the ‘Canes in the Fiesta Bowl. I finally made it to the Orange Bowl this year for the Florida A&M game and I am planning on making this an annual trip. Get well soon Willis and see you in the Orange Bowl in November!!!
Brian Shaffer, Cincinnati, Ohio: Congratulations on another outstanding season. I am a very big fan coming all the way from Ohio. Oddly enough, I am an OSU graduate but a huge Hurricane fan. Greg Meaney,Stuart, FL: A lot of time, energy and emotions plus talent went into last weeks game.Having said that,I guess we have to move forward and learn something from this loss and look forward to a great 2003 season.Good luck.Go Canes!!!!
Rick Smith: Hendersonville, TN (Nashville): Hold your heads up hi guys, Your still #1 to me. Good luck next year.
Chad Christian: Alabaster,Alabama: Worse call in the history of football. We will be back. Thanks seniors for all the memories and goodluck with whatever you do!! Thanks for the run Dorsey!!
Dave Gray: Simpsonville,SC: Gentleman,a sincere thank you on a wonderful season,I’m proud to be a Hurricane here in SC.Sorry about the Fiesta Bowl I thought you guys had it in OT,5 turnovers and a bad call are hard to overcome.Best wishes to all who enter the NFL,as a Cowboy fan I wish they would pick Dorsey with the 5th pick and start a new dynasty.Thank you again for the class and good sportsmanship you guys demonstrate on and off the field, that goes a long way for UM.Thank you to Coach Coker and staff for your leadership.Looking forward to next season, let the streak begin. Thanks Dave.
Glen Heintschel: Aurora, CO: Thanks for the incredible Streak!!!!! We will be back, and that is too bad for all those college fans that wanted Miami to lose, just so the streak would end. The Fiesta Bowl was a great game, and I was glad I was able to see Miami play in person for the second year in a row!
Go CANES 2003!
Matt E. Bales Jr., MBA 97′, JD 00′: New York, New York: Congratulations on another excellent season in University of Miami football. You guys are the National Champions of the 2002-2003 college football season and the final score of the Fiesta Bowl is 24-17! Ohio State better hide the Fiesta Bowl trophy in a vault in Switzerland, becuase upon completion of reviews by the NCAA and the Big 12 its proceeding directly to Coral Gables. Although, I am very proud of how the team and coaching staff is handling this situation thus far, I can not stand to see an injustice as flagrant as what transpired on January 3, 2003 and will do whatever I can to support UM. However, regardless of how everything turns out, the Canes will be back stronger than ever!!! Best of luck in you future endeavors Seniors!
Gary Grove: Prosser, WA: ‘Canes- congrats on a great season. Too bad about the calls, but the big ones went either way (Gamble’s catch on the last OSU possession in regulation and the infamous call in OT). Those are all what ifs to me. It was the best college football game that I’ve ever seen and my read is that there were 22 champions on the field at the end of the game. Don’t hang your heads.Get well soon to your excellent running back.
Alex Miglio : Miami, FL: I am proud of you guys. You made me very proud to be a Hurricane these past few years, and I will alweays be proud. You have the fifth-longest winning streak in NCAA history, and no Miami bias or bad calls can take that away from you. I know you will bounce back with a vengeance next season. I only hope everyone stays that can stay 🙂 Hope you all have a safe and great spring football season. Best wishes!-Alex
Joe Zunzunegui: Davie, FL: Congratulations on a great season!
Jennifer Lones: Miami, Fl.: Hi, You are still number 1!!! Great game, disappointing loss but you are still champions on and off the field. Looking forward to next season. You have been first class all the way!
JOHN LYDON: CHICAGO IL: HEY HURRICANES, I HAVE WATCHED AND ROOTED ALL YEAR THRU ALL THE BLOWOUTS AND THE CLOSE CALLS YOU GUYS CAME THRU BIGTIME THIS YEAR, AND TO HAVE IT COME DOWN TO A BLOWN CALL IN THE END IS NOT FAIR, BUT WHAT A RIDE YOU GAVE US WHAT THRILLS AND JOY YOU BROUGHT TO ME, AND ALL CANE FANS ALL OVER,IF THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WERE ROOTING FOR THE UNDERDOG WELL THAT JUST TELLS ME HOW MUCH THESE FANS ARE IN AWE OF YOUR FOOTBALL PROGRAM. WE WILL RISE ABOVE THIS THO WE WILL LOSE A FEW LEADERS WE WILL MOVE ON AND WATCH OUT IN 2003.I ALSO HOPE AND PRAY FOR SPEEDY RETURN OF WILLE MC.
ralph intintoli: huntington new york: to everyone on the team, you have given all of us the greatestthrill over the past few years and have brought the miami hurricanes back to where many of us are used too seeing the program. you have all layed the groundwork for many many years too come in miami football history.be proud of what you have accomplished and remember there will always be a next game. ” GO CANES” HAVE A SAFE OFF SEASON SEE YOU IN THE NEW SEASON AND THANKS FOR THE FANTASTIC YEAR, YOUR LOYAL FAN IN THE MIDWEST(AND I HOPE TO GET TO A GAME SOON) JOHN LYDON
Walter R. Courtenay III: Cary, North Carolina: Heartbreaking. I thought I was going to have a heart attack about 30 times in the game. But Terry Porter should be banned from ever refereeing a game again!!! NO ONE throws a flag five seconds after the play is done. You were robbed. I felt completely cheated. But I have always and will always be devoted to the Canes, especially being born at Doctors Hospital in 1961. Dad’s a Cane, I’m a Cane. My blood is orange and green!P.S: Get well soon, Willis! Between you and Payton and Gore, we’ll be unstoppable on the ground!!!
Angel Loor: Miami, FL: I just wanted to congratulate the UM Canes on a wonderful season and the most awesome run in college football in the modern era. I was at the Rose Bowl, at the Fiesta Bowl, and I will be in the Sugar Bowl next year when we go to redeem ourselves. My prayers go out to Willis for a quick and speedy recovery.Remember that SugarCANE is so sweet!
Bob K: Homestead, Fl: Mr. K’s Biology class from Homestead Sr. would like to congratulate you guys on a fine season. We were heartbroken of course on January 3rd (a day which will live forever in infamy) but my class reminded me of two things. First, its ok…they will learn from it and be back on Bourbon St. next year! Second and most important…we as Hurricanes fans are spoiled, all the winning you guys have been doing, we dont know what it is like to lose, and when we do, it is a very low feeling…but we should remember that you guys had a great season and will have many more in the future! (ex. of how spoiled we are…USC fans are on top of the world now…Miami fans are in the dumps…and we finished 2nd!!!12-1!!! just goes to show how high our standards are now…we know you can meet them though! go canes…
carlos garcia jr. : miami lakes fl.33014: Thank you for a great and exciting year. We will be back and most important I will always support you guys, good luck next year and go canes..
Jeff Harte, age 7 : Castleton VT: Please forward to Willis McGahee,Dear Willis,I am the nephew of Mike Pawlusiak a former Miami trainer. I love watching you play. You are one of my favorite players. I hope you get well soon and work hard to return next year. I felt really bad when you were hurt. Get well soon. I hope to see you next year at Boston College.
scott milo: merritt island, fl: to Willis Magahee: we are so proud of you for all your efforts this season. our thoughts and prayers are with you as you recover and return in the future. never give up, keep up the rehab, finish school at UM , get your degree – that is something they can’t take away from you all the best and good luck
K. C. Roemer: Mendham, NJ: This is one Buckeye fan that thought, you, Willis McGahee should have won the Heisman Trophy – Naturally, I did NOT look forward to have to face you. But NO good Buckeye ever wanted to see you get injured, at ANY cost. I did NOT predict that we could ever beat the great Miami but I DO predict that you will come back, to have a glorious career in the NFL and I will be one of your biggest fans. All things happen for a reason…You are talented, hard working, humble and a true team player with great character. YOU are what is great about college football. Get well soon.
Carmen Dorsey: Oak Ridge ,Tn: Hey! Great Job at the Fiesta Bowl! There always next year for the soph. and jr’s.Good luck to all the seniors Dre, Vilma D.J, WJ, Ethenic Sands and Ken Dorsey. You all played great and good luck with what you plan to do when u get out college!(NFL for some?) GET WELL SOON MCGAHEE!(Remember: Your all winners,it’s no ones falut!) Love ya Carmen D*
Michelle Wilson: Longwood, Florida: To the team: Congratulations on a wonderful run. I have not missed a televised ‘Canes game in several years. You have made me very proud to wear the orange and green and that’s not easy here in Central Florida where there is an abundance of orange-blue and garnet-gold! I was disappointed to see the Fiesta Bowl come out the way it did and saddened by the injury to Willis McGahee but you fought the good fight. I cannot wait for the 2003 season to begin! To all players who will return: have a great off-season and see you in 2003!Michelle
willie brennan : ventura, california: That was a fucked up way to lose a football game. I hope Andre Johnson and anyone else thinking about jammin'( DJ Williams, Vilma, etc.) stays one more year and we stomp everyone next year 50-3. I already feel a little sorry for the squads that got to face the hurricanes next year. Stay up one and all, especially Willis McGahee and Dorsey. Peace
John L. Wacks : Canton, GA: Great season! Can’t wait until next year, I know that you all will be ready to fight again. Work hard, stay focused and forget the bad call, anyone with common sense can see that the interference call was marginal at best. Thanks again for a great football season!
tammi soden: monmouth jct, nj; Dear Canes-Just want to thank-you for a wonderful season and a great run at the title. I’ve been a fan for many years and this was the most exciting year ever. Good luck Ken at whatever or wherever you go next year. I’ll keep my eyes open for you and the team you represent. My prayers go out to willis for a speedy recovery. To the guys that are coming back, stay focused and we will be back next year. Good luck to all of you. Tammi Soden (New Jersey)
James C. Hayes: Budd Lake, NJ 07828: The Miami Football team showed tremendous class in not complaining or making excuses about the Fiesta Bowl loss. I was not as classy as you. However, it is time to go forward. Train hard, practice hard, get good grades, enjoy school, and you’ll be fine. Where one door closes another door opens. If you are a senior, then graduate and do well in life. If you play football at Miami next year, you will be right in the thick of things. Miami always comes back!
Kristi Davis : Pembroke Pines FL: Hugs and kisses all around to the best team ever! In our hearts we know we won the game. Just as we knew the Heisman should’ve gone to Dorsey. Best wishes for the new year from this old lady hurricane.(Praying daily for Willis)
Cari Burman : Orlando, FL: First I want to congratulate all of you on a wonderful winning streak and to say congrats to the seniors and good luck! I know you are tired of hearing it, but you are all number 1 in my eyes. Winning and loosing are a part of life. How you have been conducting yourselves after the game has been very gracious and it tells the world about what kind of athletes you are. I know it is still numb, but you are still one of the greatest teams and took part in the game that will be known as the best champ game ever. You are all special and I will watch you wherever you go.
Hurricane fan for life,
Cari Burman
